Congratulate Me:I finally finished the second sock!

Pics:

I've still got to weave in the ends...
Oh, yeah, and here's the first one!
Every sock has its imperfections...

G'wolly wa! Every time I add in new yarn, I get this big hole in the sock! And when I try to pull the yarn tighter, it just makes it worse!
Oh, well...The socks are wearable...I am VERY pleased with my first full PAIR of socks!

Can I get a Woot! Woot!?

I can't believe I knit a sock in just TWO DAYS!!! And it's actually wearable!!!

I knit the "Shadowbox" sock from Knit Socks! by-I think-Betsy (Beth? Betty? Gwen?) McCarthy...

I'm amazed it turned out so well; the needles were a size too small and I dropped and picked up, like, a gazillion stitches...

Nothing an experienced sock knitter would have done-probably laughable, but definitely not guffawable, but I am very pleased, and will give it to Taylor for Christmas...

I wish I could post pictures, but my camera *phone* died-Darn Cingular!!! I lost all my pics of yarn and the blackhead sock in-progress, too!

Still, this has been a very productive knitting weekend!

P.S.--Woot! Woot!

Yarn!

I just got back from the after-Thanksgiving sale at my LYS...I bought 3 skeins of Zara merino extrafine, 1 skein of Berroco Bling Bling (It's 2% aluminum!!), and 1 skein of Dolce Amore to make my little cousin some baby socks for Christmas...

Before that, I had gone to Michael's and bought4 skeins of Sugar 'n' Cream, but my mom is probably going to return it, b/c I had wanted to make some socks with it, but discovered that it's 100% cotton, which means no memory or elasticity...

Danielle went with us to the LYS...She got some Gaway and DPN's...I showed her how to set them up, but didn't have time to show her how to knit in the round, so I gave her the knitting help address. I also showed her Knitty.

Here are her hands while she spread the stitches onto the needles:

I accidentally fiddled around with it so it isn't as clear as it should have been:(...Also, I made her hands look wider than they really are...

Comments!:

Something I was debating with my mom, Danielle, and Danielle's mom-do you pronounce "skein" as "scain (ai as in raid)," "skeen (ee as in green)," or "skine (i as in twine)?" Is it a regional thing? Like Yankees versus Southerners?

It's done...And I have despondently cast it aside...

I finished the black sock on the way back from the aquarium my daddy took us to...At first, I was really excited, but then I realized how yucky it is!

There's a hole on the gusset on the inside-it looks like a run in a pair of tights. I don't know how it got there...I guess I didn't do the decreases tight enough.

And what the heck does "weave in ends" mean? I sort of sewed the rest of the yarn into the tip of the toe, but now It's this obnoxious-looking sock-pimple thing...It's all pointy and...Obnoxious...and pimply!

Oh, well...

Somebody, please comment!!
How do you "weave in ends" without ending up with sock-zits?

Happy Thanksgiving!

She finally gave it back!

On Sunday, I expected to recieve by lovely sock and be about my business...but then my mommy put in a twist:I had to CLEAN my room before said sock would be returned to me...Well, I toiled and labored all day long...And, at long last, my mommy gave me back my sock at about 9:00 last night. I knit a few rows and was off to sleep.

I'm almost almost done! Just a few more inches on the sock and then I can shape the toe.

And to think, I could have made three more socks by now!

I would post pictures, but a. I only have one picture and don't feel like taking any more and b. I might decide to buy some more yarn, finish the pair, and give them to someone for Christmas.

Can I get a woot! woot!?

WAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!

My mommy took away my sock.

That's right, she is using deprivation of knitting as a punishment for my atrociously messy room.

I'm so worried about it...She won't tell me where it's hidden, and I'm afraid it's been accidentally frogged or something...The last time I saw it, there were no stitch-keeper-onner-things on the needles. I'm so fretful...It's like loosing a child...Especially considering that I'm almost done with it! (and, since I shortened the leg, so far no white yarn has been a necessary addition to the beauty-in-progress...Who knows, I might even end up with TWO black socks!)

Comments: Has your knitting ever been taken away from you as a punishment? What for? For how long?

AAEEEEKIKIHARASHAGURGY!!!

I just looked at the label to the black skein of Cascade...And there are only 1oo yards...Half of what I need for one sock!!!

I guess I'll just make one sock, half black, half white.

I know you're wondering, "Why don't you just go to your LYS and get some more yarn?"...I'm wondering that, too...

I want to run around and stamp my feet and jump up and down...But that'll make my head hurt worse.

What in the world am I going to do with one sock???

New Sock/Pic of Old Sock/SAE/Lonely/BLEH!!

I'm making another sock...Not the mate to the one I just made...But a different one. It's going to be black with a white heel. Its mate will be white with a black heel. Then I might make two more corresponding socks so I can have suitable matches. Right now it's just a supply-and-demand thing:I have enough black Cascade for one sock, and enough white Cascade for one sock.

I've finally got one picture of the first sock:

Just picture a few more inches of stockinette and a little ribbing at the top:)It's so big that I can fit my entire converse inside of it:-D

In Ag. Tech., we are supposed to be doing this project called an SAE ("supervised agricultural experience"), and I decided that I'm going to do woodworking:a roll-out cabinet that I can fit under my bed to hold my knitting stuff:) There-hopefully-will be slots for my needles, a few shelves for my yarn, little boxes for those rubbery things you put at the end of your work to keep your work from slipping off (what are those things CALLED??!!! I can't ever remember!!), stitch markers, etc., and maybe a glass display area for my beautiful sock and whatever I finish afterwards:) I'm so excited...Maybe my dad will make me some wooden stitch markers...that would be cool:)

Thanks to the only person who has, thus far, left a comment...I feel so lonely b/c no one knows who I am or looks at my blog...I joined the Knittyheads ring to try to get my blog known, but a.the picture is just an ugly red little X and b.whenever I click it, a thing comes up that says "Sorry you are still on the Knittyheads queue or your site doesn't belong to this ring !!!!!Please contact the ring owner using this email address wendy.wonnacott@gmail.com".

I'm going to take the link off of my page...I think I'll comment on a few other blogs...
